The Seal Colonies and Pilgrimage Shrine in Norfolk

Blakeney is perhaps the prettiest of all the Norfolk seaside villages: flint fishermen's cottages tumble down a steep slope to a picturesque quay with wonderful views over the salt marshes. Beyond the harbour is Blakeney Point, the tip of a 6-km long shingle spit, a National Trust nature reserve famous for its seals.

Although you can get there on foot, it is a lot more fun, and less tiring, to be ferried in a fishing dinghy from Morston, a small marshland village 2 km along the coast from Blakeney. A round trip takes a couple of hours and includes plenty of time to explore the Point where, as well as colonies or grey and common seals, you will see hundreds of birds and unusual plants. It is a brilliant place for wildlife photography.

Great Witley Church, Worcestershire

The parish church of St Michael and All Angels was a great surprise to me. It was that 'wow' moment when you use 'wow' the most appropriately. Entering the church brings you suddenly on the Italian soil, with all Italian style in interior decoration.

The church is part of the Witley Court estate, but it is not under the responsibility of English Heritage. It is maintained by local community. Witley Church has one of the finest 18th-century ecclesiastical interiors in England and it is very worthy your visit, even if the Court itself is now a ruin due to the fire in 1937. Even if it looks like a private chapel it has always been a parish church, replacing the ruined 13th-century church that once stood here.

England's icon - Stonehenge

Stonehenge is certainly one of the most important tourist sites in England, Wiltshire. This prehistoric monument and its mysterious history started to intrigue scholars, travelers and adventurers, as much as ordinary people, in Victorian time. Victorians were very keen to preserve British past and tradition, and in that time Stonehenge became a real tourist destination.

There are about 20 different theories who, how and why built Stonhenge. Starting with the claims that it was built by Romans, Danes, Phoenicians, Saxons, or even Minoans, it was unclear what was the purpose of the building and what construction techniques were used.

My name is Tamara and recently moved to live in United Kingdom. I always loved UK, especially the rich history of the country. I actually have a feeling that the country is on the constant move from past to present with an often trips to the future. The past can be seen everywhere and everyday through the architecture, heritage, tradition, culture. All this is woven into the present, modern lifestyle of the new generations. And the future?
